Anyone can take out a subscription to the Globe & Laurel. As the Journal of the Royal Marines, our primary task is to record the activities of the Royal Marines and the wider Corps Family across the globe, so our content is very much Royal Marines orientated. By 'Corps Family' we mean serving and former Royal Marines, family members and close friends of Royal Marines, RM Cadets as well as anyone who has supported and worked closely with our Corps over the years.
Being very competitively priced, we aim to make the Globe & Laurel as affordable as possible, while ensuring that any profits made are put back into our Corps Family via our Royal Marines Charities.
Anyone can submit an article to the Globe & Laurel. If the content is Royal Marines related, or would be of interest to the wider Corps Family, then your article will be considered for publication in the next available edition.
As a guide, an average article is circa 1800 words but many articles will need more text to accurately tell 'the story'. Please submit your article to the team and if necessary we will contact you to discuss the length. please ensure you credit an original author in your text if you quote from another publication.
Yes, we encourage authors to supply imagery with their article(s) wherever it compliments the text. When submitting imagery, please remember to supply suggested captions to go with the images. We ask that images are NOT added to the text document as this will often 'shrink down' the image and lower the print quality of the image. We therefore request that all images are sent at their original size, of the highest resolution possible and are separate files. If necessary, please send your images over multiple emails or use Dropbox or WeTransfer, if the file size limit of your email provider stipulate this.
Yes, we will always mirror the content from print across to digital in every edition of the Globe & Laurel Magazine.
Yes, we will always include email and website details if they support your article content. We are also able to include a QR code if space allows. For the digital editions, we will supply links to your contact, website or socials, making it easier for our readers to interact with you or your organisation.
Yes, we can serialise an article if the content is very long, or it is felt the subject matter needs to be divided into two or more chapters/sections. The team will be able to discuss this with you once your item is submitted and we have worked out how much space would be needed to publish.
As a rule no. However, if after publication a third party expresses an interest in re-publishing your article, we would contact you to advise of the interest and seek permission for your piece to be shared, before any action is taken.
Use this link to submit an article, Obituary or a 'Where Do You Read Yours' competition image for consideration of publication in the next available edition of the Globe & Laurel.
Ensure images are NOT attached to your text/word document. Please remember to 'caption' your images before submission.
